I completed the Edinburgh Beast on July 22, 2017. This is now ticked off this list – it was very tough indeed – tougher than expected.

The course was 14 miles of hill climbs beset by low clouds, wind and pouring rain. Although there were 40 obstacles the terrain and weather were the biggest obstacles and what was an optimistic 4.5 hour completion time became 6.5 hours of pain.

Even the mohawk hair cut did not reduce the discomfort. However, whining aside, it was a superb experience and a great feeling when we crossed the line together. Well worth the effort.

I should also mention the organisation of the event – absolutely spot-on.  Incredibly well organised with a great deal of help and support for the competitors. A bit thank you to the staff and volunteers.
